Storyland - New Hampshire

You may never have heard of Storyland before. It is an amusement park catered towards 3 -10 year-old children and parents with youthful hearts. Our little guy turned 3-years-old this year and we adventured up to Storyland - the first time going for my husband and the first time for me since I myself was a child. The park has gotten much larger since I was a tot. There are many more amusement rides than I remembered as a child. The more traditional activities that I remember from my youth, such as the old lady in the shoe and Cinderella's Castle are overshadowed by the newer flashy amusement park rides. My little guy, who likes to go FAST, really enjoyed all of the rides. There were some rides that require children to be 36 inches tall and a parent to accompany him/her. If children are 48 inches or taller, then they could go on most rides on their own. I think that my little guy's favorite ride was steering the antique car around the park. The train was also pretty cool. He got to take a trip on a pirate ship and ride his first roller coaster! Being an expectant mommy, I sat out and played the role of photographer for many of the rides. There was an abundant of trees shading benches by every ride, which made it perfect for enjoying the fun from the sidelines. I think that we will definitely go back next summer!

Fire Prevention Week October 5-11, 2008

It's Fire Prevention Week. Every year our city holds a Fire Safety Event for families at the beginning of Fire Prevention Week. This was the first year that I have attended. They have fire trucks for the kids to sit in, ambulances, demonstrations for how to use a fire extinguisher to put out a fire, and every little one's favorite, using a real fire hose to knock out the fire in the pretend house. (shown in the picture above) The Red Cross was also there handing out information about fire safety in the home. Here is a link to their site with some safety tips for your home. The police department was there as well. They gave out plastic red fire hat to the little ones. My little guy usually hates wearing hats, but he wore his red fire hat most of the time we were there. He also got a fireman's badge sticker which you can see in the photo below. We went to play on the playground after checking out the big trucks. On our way back to the car they started passing out red balloons, so the little guy got a balloon too. It was a fun and educational event.

Beech Hill Farm

We had beautiful weather here yesterday and decided to take the babe out and get some ice cream. We went to Beech Hill Farm, which is in the next town over. They have unique flavors and a make your own Sundae bar. For the babe, they had a huge mountain of sand and a ton of trucks to play with. My husband and I sat and enjoyed our ice cream while the babe played with the trucks. After finishing our ice cream we walked up the nature trail a ways. Then we visited the animals. They have peacocks, pigs, calves, a donkey, ponies, goats, and bunnies.
