Ice Storm In New England

After the freezing rain stopped this morning, I went out and snapped a few photos in our back yard. We were very fortunate, we only lost power for about an hour. My twin sister a couple of towns over hasn't had power since last night, along with about 300,000 other Granite Staters. She was told that she wouldn't be back on the grid for 3 days to 3 weeks! Thankfully they have a generator!

Oh, golly- that's bone breaking stuff. We had an ice storm in southern Ohio like that when I was a kid and we licked absolutely everything - even a ragedly old rug was sealed in ice. STAY WARM and don't venture out in THAT!

Wow, I can't decide if I'm really thankful I've never experienced an ice storm or if I really want to fly over and see all the frozen stuff - your holly actually looks beautiful with the ice :)

I know ice storms are destructive, but it is also so beautiful. You took some lovely photos. Gotta love Mother Nature...beautiful, yet terrible at time.
